Through Their Eyes
So what do you do when you love to write and then someone asks you to write something and you draw a blank. You think of so many different things to write about but when it comes to actually putting it down into something worth reading, nothing. There is just nothing there to write about, nothing to expound on, nothing. So what do you do? Well you just keep writing in hopes that something you do write will eventually be worth reading.
It is the same way with being a mother. We as mothers the majority of the time love being a mother but there are times that we just simply don't know what to do. Everything we think about doing comes out wrong. The kids just keep getting louder, we drop everything we touch, we forget to feed a kid. We realize our toddler hasn't had a bath in three days and it all just keeps building up. So what do we do when those times come? Well we just keep being a mother and hope that something we do will eventually come out right.
We as mothers tend to be very hard on ourselves. We tend to think that no matter what we do, it isn't good enough. We think that no matter how hard we try to raise our kids right that they will be missing out on something or will turn out to be crazy people. Yes it is true in the eyes of ourselves and in the eyes of this world we will never be good enough. But have we as mothers ever looked at ourselves through the eyes of our children and through the eyes of our Lord and Savior.
So what do we see when we see ourselves through the eyes of our children? We see one of the only people who has ever been there for them. We see their protector. We see their teacher. We see one of the only people who has and who ever will love them for who they truly are. We see one of two people that they can truly be themselves with. We see one of the only people that when they get hurt they come running. We see their superhero. We see the person they want to become (even though they will never tell you.) We see their mommy.
So if that is what we see when looking through the eyes of our children, what do we see when we look at ourselves through the eyes of our Lord and Savior. We see a person that God truly loves. We see a person that Jesus died for. We see a person that God believed in enough to give us this role as a mother. We see a person that is created in God's image. We see beauty. We see majesty. We see honor. We see grace. We see wisdom. We see the person who is becoming more like Christ everyday. We see love.
Many times will come that we think we are not great mothers. There will be many times that we may not want to be a mother, but when those times come, if we take a minute and see ourselves through the eyes of our children and through the eyes of our Lord and Savior. We will see that we are truly the best mom in the whole world. We see the person God created us to be.
“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you" Matthew 6:33
